The Blogger Behind the Books | Book TAG

Welcome to The Blogger Behind the Books tag, put together by the Sky Blue team from Nori’s Book Blogger Creativity Project!

Our team wanted to learn more about each other, but we also wanted to incorporate the things that had brought us all together – books! So we put together this tag with a few different books and the conversations they started. I hope you enjoy it!

Describe a time you felt like you were on top of the world and could do anything

The day I got to the United States for my cultural exchange programme, I was in the airport and I got really scared when I got down the plane, because I found all this people, in this huge airport, everyone speaking a language that was not my first language, and I was there alone, really far away from home, really for the first time. I was really scared, but I was also really excited, and then the fear went away, not completely, but a little bit of it went away, and I felt like I could do anything

Describe a time you were irrationally in love with someone or something when you know you shouldn’t have been.
I guess there was a time when I was completely obssesed with Tumblr, and I didn’t sleep that much because I was online all the time, and in this time, I didn’t hang out with my friends that much and I didn’t want to go to family activities and special occassions. honestly, I didn’t want to do anything else. I know this was because I felt like the people in Tumblr understood me better, and I think this was because at the time I was very different to my high school friends, we didn’t care about the same thing. Now that I have my university friends, I don’t use Tumblr as much.

A place or person that you can call home.
I think the answer to this has been my family for most of my life, then I got to university and now I have amazing friends that would fit in this category too. Also, in the last couple of months, I guess my boyfriend has given me this feeling of home, I’m so happy and he makes me feel great and he is always trying to help me grow as a person.

Talk about what you love most. Your favorite things, people, books whatever.
This could be an entire blog post, but I guess what I love most are books and tv shows. I love both the Harry Potter movies and books, I love fantasy series and Throne of Glass is one of my favorites. I love other series like The Darkest Minds and The Raven Cycle. I just love books so much! I also love tv shows, I watch so many, I think I up to 10 tv shows a week, that I watch regularly. Right now, Sense8 is one of my favorites, I have watched every season of Grey’s Anatomy, I used to love The Vampire Diaries, I still watched it, but it’s not the same, and I also really like Teen Wolf.  I could keep going about books and tv shows forever, but I think this is enough for now.

Talk about who (outside of your family) has been the most influential person in your life.
I can’t choose just one person, I think a lot my friends have influenced my life so much over the years and they have helped me grow. Also, my current boyfriend has been such an influence and he has had a really big impact in my life in a lot of ways.

Do you feel like our society now are headed in the direction (or are already in a state) of a Dystopia.
I feel like not yet, we still have time to make changes. But I definitely feel like if you keep going like we are going, it’s likely that we end up in a state of a dystopia book.

Describe a moment where you felt like you where exactly where you were supposed to be, a moment where you felt on the right path.
I really don’t know. I think this is a feeling that it’s a bit strange to me. I would say I felt like this during my cultural exchange, I think it was one of the best decisions of my life.

Tell us about a person/experience that taught you to LIM (live in the moment).

I feel like the night I met my boyfriend taught me to live in the moment. I knew him, but we weren’t friends, and I feel like that night I was LIM and having fun with my friends and he showed up and I had always thought he was attractive, so I just started talking to him and we danced, and without looking for it, I ended up with an amazing boyfriend.

Waiting on Wednesday #11 | Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine that Spotlights upcoming releases that we are excited for.

Title: Illuminae (The IlluminaeFiles #1)
Author: Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Release Date: October 20th 2015

Published by: Knopf Books for Young Readers

Genre: YA, Science Fiction

Pages: 608
This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.
This afternoon, her planet was invaded.
The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.
But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it’s clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.
I can’t wait to read this book because everyone it’s talking about how great it is. I’m a bit worried that it won’t live up to hype for me, but I’m still really excited to read it.  I know this book tries to tell the story it wants to tell in a very creative way, and I’m very intrigued to see if it does a good job doing that.

Are you excited for this book? What are you Waiting on Wednesday? Let me your link, so I can visit and comment back!

Movies to Look Forward to: October 2015

I love making this kind of post, even if they aren’t about book. Like I have said before, I love movies and it makes me sad that I don’t have as much time to watch movies as I did before. Nonetheless, I still keep up to date with all the new movies that are coming out, so here are some of the movies that are being released this month and that I really want to watch. I usually put three or four movies each month and I usually only end up having time to watch one, but when I’m on vacations I can come back to these posts and catch up on all the movies.
Room (16 October 2015)    Trailer

After 5-year old Jack and his Ma escape from the enclosed surroundings that Jack has known his entire life, the boy makes a thrilling discovery: the outside world.

This movie looks amazing, I have heard so many good things about the Brie Larson’s performance that I can’t wait to watch this. And if you add the fact that it only has fresh ratings in Rotten Tomatoes, it makes this a must watch movie for me, because I have NEVER seen a movie get only fresh ratings.

Suffragette ( 23 October 2015) Trailer

The foot soldiers of the early feminist movement, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State

I have heard that this movie is historically inaccurate, but I want to see for myself. It definitely helps that it has a great cast. I’m really interested in the feminism movement and I just want to see what they did with this  movie.

The Martian (16 October 2015)   Trailer

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.

Honestly, I want to watch this movie because I have heard great things about the book. Also, the cast is quite good and the reviews and rating so far have been great.

What movies do you want to watch this month? What movies did you watch last month? Did you like them?

Unpopular Opinions | Book Tag

I saw a few videos of booktubers doing this tag and I decided it woud be fun to give it a try. Here are some of my unpopular opinions.

1. A popular book or series that you didn’t like

The Wrath and the Dawn, maybe. I haven’t finished, I read like 50% of the book and I had to stop, I wasn’t enjoying it at all. I don’t DNF books, so I will finish it at some point, but I seriously don’t think there’s a way this book it’s gonna get a good rating from me.

2. A popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate, but you love

I guess The Selection by Kiera Cass, I have only read the first book, but I feel like a lot of people don’t like these books, and I thought it was a fun and quick read.

3. A love triangle where the main character ended up with a different person than you wanted to or an OTP you did not like

Peeta and Katniss, I just never understood them together, I’m not sure what it was, but I didn’t feel like there was chemestry between them. And it’s NOT that I wanted Katniss to end up with Gale, I just didn’t want her to end up with Peeta.

4. A popular book genre you hardly reach for
I think sci-fi, even if the few books I have read were really good, I just don’t read that much of this genre. But I want to change that! I will try to read more sci-fi in the future. Also, I feel like before, I read a lot more dystopian books and I feel like lately I haven’t felt like reading this genre.

5. A popular or beloved character that you didn’t like

Snape and Malfoy from the Harry Potter series. I have never been able to understand what people see in them and why so many people love them. And I felt like the purpose of these characters was to not be liked.

6. A popular author you can’t seem to get into

Lauren Oliver, maybe. I only read the first book in the Delirium series, and I just thought it didn’t have anything special. I have never felt the need to read any more of her books.

7. A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing
Insta-love without a doubt, I am a big fan of slow burning romances. If the book starts, the characters meet and ten pages later the characters are saying I love you and I would die for you, I’m done. It’s just ridiculous!

8. A popular series that you have no interest in reading
The Matched trilogy by Ally Condie. I have heard good things about this series, but Most of what I have heard is really negative. I don’t think I’m gonna want to read this.

9. The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but what T.V. show or movie adaptation do you prefer to the book?

I haven’t read The Vampire Diaries series, but I’m counting it for this answer because I love the tv show (even if the first seasons were way better than the last couple of them), but I have no intentions to read the books. When I started to watch the show, my best friend had read a few of the books and she told me they were completely diferent to the tv show and that after a few books, the series started to not be so good.

Tell me some of your unpopular opinions! And if you want to do this tag, you are tagged, let me a link for your post, I would love to check it out!

Harry Potter Moment of the Week| Favorite Quote from Philosopher’s Stone

The Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Leah at Uncorked Thoughts and Micheline at Lunar Rainbows. This week topics: Favorite Quote from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. I couldn’t choose jsut one, so here are four of my favorite.

In a more serious note:

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”

“The truth… it is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution”

And for the funny ones:

“There are some things you can’t share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them”

“I hope you’re pleased we could all have been killed- or worse, expelled.”
