Life Update: heartbreak and asking for book recommendations

life update 2

Hi guys! I know I haven’t posted in a while, getting back into blogging consistently has been harder than what I thought it  was gonna be.

I’m sorry, because this post is not gonna be very interesting. This past few weeks have been hard because some things were happening in my relationship with my boyfriend and it was a very sad period of time. Last night, we finally decided to break up after a little over two years together and I have been in a cry fest since then. But this post isn’t about that.  I just wanted to ask for recommendations of books that I can read while going through hearbreak. Here are some of the things I’m looking for:

  • Books that made you laugh or made you happy
  • I usually read New Adult when I’m feeling anxious or sad, so if you have New Adult recommendations, those are welcome as well.
  • The easy to read, make you feel better type of YA Contemporary. ( I just finished When Dimple Met Rishi a few minutes ago and it really distracted me and help me stop feeling sad for a little bit).
  • Some fantasy or sci fi that has a good romance and it’s really entertaining may help as well.
  • If you can think of any other things that makes me feel better, go ahead and tell me below.
  • Also, it can be a movie or tv show that made you laugh or made you happy, or that you  think it would be entertaining and it would distract me right now.

That’s it! Thank you for reading this and please let me your recommendations in the comments.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear that! Break ups are so difficult! When I went through it with my boyfriend of over three years I was given a book that really helped me. I also lent it to all my friends who went through the same thing and it seemed to help them as well. The book is “It’s Called a Break Up Because It’s Broken.” It has great advice and insight!

    1. I just looked the book up on Goodreads and it sounds amazing! I had heard about He’s Not That Into You by the same author, but I had never heard about It’s Called a Break Up Because It’s Broken. Thank you for the rec! I will definitely give it a chance soon.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about this! Break ups are the worst. 😦 Some books that made me laugh/feel good are Harry Potter, Fangirl, Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Upside of Unrequited. Some shows that make me laugh are The Office, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Friends and That 70s Show. ❤

    1. I know! Break ups are definitely the worst. I have been meaning to read Simos Vs… for a while, I may actually pick it up next. I know a lot people agree with you about it being a feel good book! Also, it’s funny that when I wrote about tv shows recommendations I was thinking about The Office, because one of my friends loves tha show and always says that it makes her feel better. Thanks for all the recommendations!

  3. Sorry about the break up! This is out of left field, but I recommend the Wayward Pines trilogy by Blake Crouch. It’s an amazing post apocalyptic read, easy to get through, and there is a love story at the center of it all. you’ll be distracted for sure.

  4. I’m so sorry to hear that 😦 I’d definitely recommend watching a funny and light-hearted TV show! I think shows like Friends, Brooklyn 99 and The Office might be good for that! And fun, happy and cute books are Geekerella and Simon Vs!!! Hope you feel better soon ❤️

  5. Oh I’m so sorry to hear about your breakup 😦 When I am sad I watch Friends, Parks and Recreation, or Buffy. Bookwise I will always say Harry Potter because it feels like you are hanging out with old friends. I hope things get better for you soon my lovely xx

  6. So sorry to hear about the break up! A few years together isn’t a small amount of time. All of my reads have been quite dark lately which won’t help. Hope you’re feeling back to yourself soon!
