Most Anticipated Book Releases – January 2018

Most anticipated book releases january 2018

This is a post I will be writing every month in 2018, where I talk about my most anticipated releases of the month. I have 3 goals with this: 1) at the end of the year, I want to see how many of the books I said I was anticipating did I actually read. 2) I want to increase the number of new releases I read and writing about them every month will help with that, because in 2017 only 24 out of the 82 books I read were new releases (29%). I don’t think that is bad, but I would like to increase it to at least 40%. 3) In case someone hasn’t heard about a book but it sounds like something they would enjoy.

Here we go:

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

I have heard from so many people that this book is amazing. From what I know, this is brutal and shocking and I’m intrigued. Someone described this as Game of Thrones with faries, which sounds amazing to me.

Release Date: January 2nd 2018

Everless by Sara Holland

The concept of time as currency is interesting to me and I have heard that there’s a lot of mystery, I’m intrigued to see where the author takes the concept and the plot.

Release Date: January 2nd 2018

Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire

I’m really excited because in this book we return to Eleanor West’s Home for Wayward Children, which is where the first book was set, and we get to see characters we knew from the first book. Also, there’s trans, Latinx, fat, asexual, disabled, Japanese representation on this.

Release Date: January 9th 2018

Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

I really want to read more Sci-fi in 2018 and this sounds amazing. It deals with enviromental damage, an alien race and scavengers and raiders in space. Acually, this is pitch as Indiana Jones in Space and I’m all for it.

Release Date: January 9th 2018

Nice Try, Jane Sinner by Lianne Oelke

I love books where the main character is part of a tv show, so that has me so excited about this one. Also, I have heard this really funny and that the format in which is told is really cool.

Release Date: January 9th 2018

Love, Hate & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed

This book is #ownvoices for muslim indian-american representation. It deals with serious topics like islamophobia but it also has a fluffy romance. I have heard it has an amazing female friendship, which I have struggled to find in the last books I have read. I’m really excited to read this! Also, the cover is fantastic.

Release Date: January 16th 2018

Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh

I read Sarah’s debut novel ‘Fear the Drowning Deep‘ and I loved it, so I can’t wait to read this one. In this book, there’s necromancy, zombies and female/female romance. It sounds fascinating.

Release Date: January 23rd 2018

Let’s Talk about Love by Claire Kann

I’m so excited to read this book because the main character is a black biromantic asexual girl, the love interest is Asian, it takes place in a library and the cover is so beautiful.

  1. I read Everless and really enjoyed it! I want to read Unearthed and the Cruel Prince, but as I didn’t get approved for their ARCs I’ll have to wait until they come out at the library!

I’m also trying to read more new releases this year but also balance them with my large backlist, but it seems to be going well so far!
