Books on my summer 2024 TBR | TTT

Ten Top Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and the topic for this week was our summer tbr. These are books that are priorities at the top of my tbr for the upcoming months. I didn’t include 2024 releases that are coming out in the next few months because I will be making a list of my most anticipated releases of the second half of 2024.

These 5 books are all releases of the first half of 2024 that I haven’t gotten to yet, but really want to!

  • Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson: I have heard nothing but great things about this one and since I love cozy adventure stories, this seems like something I would enjoy.
  • Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater: a mix between cozy fantasy and historical romances sounds absolutely perfect.
  • The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson: I read The Nanny last year and it was just ok, but I have heard great things about this book even from people who didn’t like The Nanny so I have high hopes because a werewolves romance with fake dating is something I want to read.
  • Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo: I started this but I was in the middle of a reading slump and the start of this book is kind of slow, so I decided to pause it until I felt like reading again. I’m excited to pick it back up.
  • The September House by Carissa Orlando: I just have a feeling I’m going to enjoy this one since I love haunted house stories and this sounds unique.

What books are you looking forward to reading in the next few months?

On My Radar: the most popular books of 2023 so far (according to goodreads)

Hi friends! I’m happy to be back with another edition of On My Radar, which is a feature where I talk about books that I have heard a lot about and I’m curious about, but I’m not sure if I should give them a chance, whether it is because they are outside my comfort zone, they got mixed reviews or any other reason. My idea is that hopefully, you all can help me decide which books are worth reading.

Goodreads recently posted an article talking about the most popular books of the year(so far) and there are a few books on the list that I have on my radar but I’m not convinced of whether I should read them or not. Please let me know your opinions!

Yellowface by R.F. Kuang: the premise of the book doesn’t sound that appealing to me but since it’s R.F. Kuang and I’ve loved other books by her, and the initial reviews were really good, I was thinking about reading it. Nonetheless, lately, I have heard/read some strong criticism of the book and I’m feeling unsure again about reading it.

Witch King by Martha Wells: I love The Murderbot Diaries series and the synopsis of this sounded interesting even if didn’t sound like it was going to be a very unique story. I was pretty sure I was going to read this, but the reviews have been so bad and now I’m not sure if I want to give it a chance or not.

In the Lives of Puppets by T.J. Klune: I read and loved The House in the Cerulean Sea, but I haven’t read anything else by this author because I have heard that his other books are not as heartwarming or cozy as that book. But I’m really intrigued by the premise of this book even if it’s getting really mixed reviews, so I’m conflicted on whether to read it or not.

Lone Women by Victor LaValle: The premise of this sounds interesting and I have heard great things about this book and the author, even if I haven’t read anything by him before. But while I really enjoy horror, I’m not a fan of historical fiction, so that’s why I’m not entirely sure about if this something I would like.

Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson: I have only read one book by this author and it was years ago, but this sounds like something I would enjoy and I have heard great things about it. The reason why I haven’t read it is that I don’t know if it’s a book that it’s enjoyable for someone who has no knowlege about the Cosmere or about the others books that may be connected to this.

Which of these books do you think I should read? Are there any books on your radar that you’re unsure about reading?
