Year of the Asian Sign-Up Post & TBR

year of the asian

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my sign up post for the Year of Reading Asian Reading Challenge, as well as some of the books I’m planning to read!

The goal of the challenge is to read as many books written by Asian authors as you can in 2019 and is co-hosted by CW @ The Quiet PondLily @ Sprinkles of DreamsShealea @ Shut Up, Shealea, and Vicky @ Vicky Who Reads.

I’m aiming to reach the Malayan tapir level, which means I need to read 21 to 30 books. I already read a book this year that counts towards the challenge and it’s The Astonishing Color of After by X.R. Pan (full review).

MY TBR

I decided to focus on books that are already out and that I own already, as a way to reduce my tbr pile. I’m hoping to read most of these books plus some of the 2019 releases with Asian main character and by Asian authors.

Let’s start with the Fantasy and Sci-Fi books I want to read:

Now, these are the Contemporary books I’m hoping to get to:

    1. I know! I have signed up for 3 different challenges + I have a 2019 tbr of books I want to read, so my monthly tbr is getting a bit out of hand. But this challenge sounded so amazing that I couldn’t resist! I hope you read some amazing books if you end up joining this! 💛

  1. This is such a great challenge!! I’ve recently gotten back from an unexpected hiatus and I had no idea what challenges were going on, but I think I’ll stay out of it this time. I need to focus on reducing my TBR first haha But there are definitely some books there I wanna read! Good luck ❤

  2. Nice TBR! I haven’t signed up because I’m cutting back on buying new books this year and I don’t own most of the ones everyone is putting on their TBR (or I already read them, e.g. ignite the stars or the poppy war), but I’m considering going through my owned books and see how many Asian authors I have there.

    1. That’s what I did! I just went through the books I had and chose from there, it just that I haven’t been good lately about reading books on my ‘own tbr’ and that’s why I have so many books to read for this challenge. If you want to participate I think there’s no need to read the books everyone is reading, just read the ones you own, have fun and support Asian authors and books 😊

      1. It’s also difficult sometimes because if I don’t know the author then I don’t know if they’re Asian, and it’s a pain checking that for 300+ books 😀
